Reality: Almost all of our current board members are working or going to school, busy parents, and people juggling a lot. The work is shared, and different roles fit different availability.
Reality: You do not need to be an expert. You just need to be dependable, able to follow through, and willing to work with a team.
Reality: Every kind of person is useful on a board — planners, organizers, idea people, logistics people, behind-the-scenes people, all of it.
Reality: PTO is a group effort. Board members support each other, divide tasks, and solve problems together.
Reality: You do not need to be “on” all the time. Clear responsibilities and communication matter a lot more than being constantly available.
No. You do not need nonprofit experience, event experience, or a particular resume.
That depends on the role, but it is manageable. The board has two required meetings each month, and most positions have tasks that you can do from home on your own schedule.
Not necessarily. Availability needs vary by role, and not every position requires daytime flexibility.
Someone who can work independently, follow through on tasks, solve problems, and collaborate well with a group.
That probably means you are being harder on yourself than necessary. If you care about the school community and are willing to pitch in, you may be a great fit.
Absolutely! Just send us an email and one of us will be happy to talk to you!
